THE NŌWHERE TOURS-Yuya/Kiyomizu

8 March 2026 (SUN) 9:00-14:45

Discover Noh in Kyoto invites you to explore the world of classical theatre, tracing the journey to Kiyomizu Temple depicted in the tale of Yuya and experiencing the play in performance with the NŌWHERE Tours – Yuya/Kiyomizu.

Yuya is the name of the courtesan-dancer who longs to leave her lord to visit her dying mother. The story is based on one of Japan’s most celebrated literary works, The Tale of the Heike, and unfolds against the magnificent backdrop of Kiyomizu Temple, evoking the ephemeral beauty of flowers and life itself.

The tour will begin with a guided exploration of Yuya’s journey to Kiyomizu Temple, starting from the Kamo River, once the ancient boundary of the city, and will conclude with a live performance of Yuya at the Kongo Noh Theater.
